Enclosures for Bar Code Printers
Washdown Enclosures are designed for use in meat and food processing plants where there may be moist and humid conditions, and where high-pressure washers are often used. Thus they are the equivalent of a NEMA4X rating. The cover separates from the bottom and lifts off when doing maintenance or loading labels. In the washdown position, stainless steel latches hold the bottom and the cover together. A watertight seal keeps moisture from getting inside the enclosure.
There is a door on the front, which may be opened for access to the control panel and printed labels when the printer is in use. Retaining cables allow the door to be slid onto the top of the enclosure, even in tight spaces. When preparing the unit for washdown, stainless steel latches hold the door securely against the cover and bottom. A watertight seal plus a water channel around the perimeter of the door ensures that no liquid can reach the inside. Power and data cables are fed through a sealed notch in the back of the enclosure. A pigtail power cable feeds power to the printer from the fused fan assembly junction box. The positive flow ventilation fan provides filtered airflow through the cover when the front lid is opened. The heavy duty, inductive fan can operate without damage, even if the front door is closed and in the washdown position. The unique air baffle intake insures that moisture can not reach the inside. The filter can be cleaned and reused a number of times, depending on the local environment.
A heater option may also be mounted inside the enclosure for use in cold or extremely moist environments.
